Rare guitar stolen from shop

POLICE in West Kent are appealing for information about a guitar stolen from a display area in a shop.

The Gretch, silver jet tremolo arm, electric guitar was taken from Avalon Music in Hollybush Lane, Sevenoaks, between 5pm on Tuesday, March 1, and 12.15pm on Wednesday March 2.

Anne McCarthy, media and communications officer for West Kent Police, said: "The instrument is quite rare as there are only a limited number of outlets where this make of guitar is sold.

"We are hoping that because the instrument is so distinctive someone will be able to come forward with information as to its whereabouts."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact West Kent Police on 01732 379217 (if possible quoting reference 2703) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.

Meanwhile, a satellite navigation system has been stolen from a silver Ford Focus parked at Greatness Lane, Sevenoaks, between 9am and 9.15am Tuesday, March 7.

Police would like to talk to a man on a black mountain bike with sprung rear suspension who was seen near the car when the incident happened.

The man is described as white, aged between 18 and 22 and of slim build. His hair colour was very blond, possibly bleached or tinted.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact West Kent Police on 01732 379217 (if possible quoting reference 2951) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.

A police spokesman said: "Our crime reduction advice is that satellite navigation systems are now very popular items for criminals to seek out. If you have a sat nav system take it with you when you leave your car.

"Also be aware that if you have a sat nav bracket on your dashboard it will alert thieves to the fact that there may be a system hidden in the vehicle and criminals know all the hiding places."
