Injury rules Johnson out of warm-up clash

GILLINGHAM fans will have to wait to for their first glimpse of new signing Tommy Johnson after it was revealed the striker has picked up a calf strain and will not play at Kingstonian tonight.

The news will come as a blow to travelling supporters who will have eager to see how Johnson and Rod Wallace gel in what could be the club’s strikeforce in the coming season.

Johnson felt the problem training in France last week and the club are taking no chances. It's hoped that Johnson will feature in Gills second friendly against Maidstone at Central Park on Saturday.

Guy Ipoua is now eligible to play some part in the game after the world ban imposed on him for non-payment of monies to former agent Mark Steele has now been lifted.

Adrian Pennock misses the game after suffering reaction to his knee operation and defender Barry Ashby has a back injury and will not be involved.
