Police at the scene of a fatal crash near Deal

A young man has died and a woman airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Deal this morning.

The man - believed to be 21 - was pronounced dead at the scene following a two-car smash at about 8.40am.

A dark Renault Megane and silver Renault Clio collided in Ringwould Road, close to the A258 in Kingsdown.

Kent Police said a man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman in her 50s was flown to King's College Hospital, London, with multiple injuries believed to be serious.

Ringwould Road was closed in both directions while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit investigate. It re-opened at about 2.30pm.

Two ambulances from South East Coast Ambulance Service and crews from Deal fire station also attended the scene.

Witnesses or anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash are asked to contact the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeal line on 01622 798538.
