Lorry driver questioned after serious accident

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision between a van and a foreign-registered lorry in Forstal Road, near the Aylesford industrial estate, early this morning.

The Forstal Road was closed while investigators were at the scene, causing congestion at the Running Horse roundabout at junction 6 of the M20.

It re-opened at 10.15am.

The 20-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He is currently in police custody at Maidstone.

The cause of the collision is being investigated by Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
