Harley-Davidson has announced three new bikes for the 2014 model year, including a special edition Street Bob.

The rather predictably named Street Bob Special Edition is based on the standard bike but uses Harley’s higher-power 1690cc twin-cylinder engine, special five-spoke cast wheels and a two-tone paint job with special graphics.

The overall effect aims to enhance the stripped-down appeal of the standard bike with the Badlander two-up saddle, forward controls and drag handlebars.

Also new is the Low Rider; a return to glory days with a bike that hasn’t been part of Harley’s range for five years. Enhanced performance and timeless cruiser style combine with the same lessons in ergonomics that inspired the firm’s Project Rushmore movement to create a new classic that, with a low seat height of 680mm, should fit a wider range of riders.

The SuperLow 1200T is the third machine to join the 2014 range. The big news here is that it weighs 53.5kg less than the previous lightest Harley-Davidson ‘big twin’. Developed to be the easiest big Harley to ride, it’s tailored to riders as short as five feet one inch.

Easy adaptation for full touring duties means the SuperLow is ready for any action its rider throws at it, while the same chassis that underpins the SuperLow 883 gives confident handling and a forgiving ride.

Plenty of chrome is standard, along with a detachable windscreen and touring luggage. Keyless ignition and ABS brakes are also included.
