Kent remain interested in signing an overseas player this summer but new head coach Jimmy Adams would not be drawn on whether a signing would be made before the start of the season.
When asked if an overseas player is part of the club’s plans, Adams (pictured) said: "If the right person is there, most definitely.
"There is no taking away they bring a lot, not just in terms of runs they score but the example they set both in terms of preparation and on matchdays which is invaluable.
"We have a few young kids coming through the system and it would be great to have another role model to help their development."
Kent will start the season without all-rounder Azhar Mahmood due to his involvement in the Indian Premier League.
Adams said: "I take a philosophical view to the world game. Players are going to come and go so there is no point in losing sleep over it."
