Hess expects 'show of character' from Dover

Lee Browning could return for Whites

Staines v Dover

Ryman League Premier Division leaders Dover Athletic travel to second placed Staines for the game of the day in the Ryman League on Saturday.

And manager Andy Hessenthaler says the game will be "a good test of our character" following Tuesday's surprise FA Trophy exit at the hands of Cambridge City.

Whites lost 3-2 in the replay after Saturday's match had been abandoned because of a waterlogged pitch, with Dover leading 2-0, but Hessenthaler admitted: "We got what we deserved. We were guilty of some sloppy defending which is so unusual for us.

"It’s a kick in the teeth, but last season we went out of the cups early and went on to win the league, and I would settle for that again this season."

Lee Browning is likely to come back into contention following his knee injury, but Hessenthaler feels it is "probably too soon" to risk recalling Ollie Schulz (ankle) and Jon Wallis (hamstring).
