Snow begins to ease as the district remains covered in white

Snow made way for ice and fog across the district on Friday morning as the cold snap continued.

But, there was still disruption to traffic and travel, along with a host of school closures.

Train services were slowly returning to normal, but Southeastern were still expected to run a reduced service under a revised timetable.

In Whitstable, a burst gas main between Reeves Way and Clover Rise is expected to close sections of the A2990 Thanet Way until Monday. Engineers were called out on Thursday morning after the area was initially closed off by Police.

Gazette and Faversham News photographer Chris Davey braved the elements on Thursday to capture images of how the snow transformed landscapes and town centres.
