Firefighters tackle house fire in Old Dover Road, Canterbury.

Firefighters rescued a man from a house in Old Dover Road, Canterbury, this morning after a blaze started in the kitchen.

The 60-year-old was trapped on the second floor of the property when the emergency services arrived shortly after 11.30am.

Crew members wearing breathing apparatus got him out of the building while others tackled the flames with a hose reel jet.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The fire is thought to have started on a electric hob in the ground floor kitchen and has been logged as accidental
