Ashford: Armed police called to Cryol Road in hunt for Folkestone Gillespies bar threat suspect

Armed police descended on a residential street in the hunt for a suspect who threatened a man with a weapon.

Officers were spotted in Cryol Road, South Ashford, this afternoon just days after the victim was targeted outside the Gillespies bar in Folkestone.

Firearm officers swooped on the seafront bar at 1.40am on Saturday after a man reportedly brandished a weapon and threatened the victim.

A police helicopter was called in to help with the search in Ashford just after 12pm.

No arrests were made, but a car was seized.

On Monday, police released CCTV images of two men following the incident at the Harbour Street bar.

No injuries were reported at the weekend and, despite an extensive search of the area, no suspect or weapon was recovered.
